On January 4th 2012, the sixth-annual Wrestle Kingdom event took place in the iconic Tokyo Dome.
Wrestle Kingdom VI was a fantastic example of the best of Japanese wrestling. It featured a huge main event featuring Hiroshi Tanahashi defending his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Minoru Suzuiki, as well as Keiji Muto taking on young prospect Tetsuya Naito.
The event is famous for being the Tokyo Dome debut of Kazuchika Okada. Fresh off excursion in TNA, he returned to battle YOSHI-HASHI in a rather disappointing affair just one month before the “Rainmaker Shock”.
Other matches saw MVP and Shelton Benjamin tagging together, a fantastic opening tag team match featuring Finn Balor and a NJPW vs NOAH tag team match.
